I'm curious to know of any remote trigger devices to actuate the shutter release under programming or controls options. The idea would be to have the shutter release occur with accurate timing (rather than manually hitting the release or remote release and then trying to make events unfold before the camera runs out of memory or buffer etc.)
An example would be at a race track, for the car to have a transponder that would communicate with a beacon -- when the car "passes" the beacon, the camera "runs" for a period of time. In this way, I could drive my car at the track and have the camera record sequences of high speed footage just as I pass the camera's focus (eg. at a specific turn to see the suspension or the wheels of the car at that point on each lap.) I guess I could try to make this happen using the remote release, but it would be a bit random and probably quite dangerous to be that distracted from driving.
An alternative would be a simple photo sensor "trip" wire (when anything moves between the photo sensors, it triggers the camera.) This would be fine for the classic bullet through the playing card, but wouldn't work with multiple cars circulating on the track at once.
I'm keen to get more involved in high-speed/slow-motion photography and video -- the EX-F1 makes it all too easy, but I'm not familiar with all the accessories I imagine photographers have invented for themselves already.
